Consumer Engagement and Inclusion

At the heart of our Centre of Research Excellence (CRE) are TB survivors and caregivers, whose voices and experiences are central to shaping our research agenda. Ongoing engagement with stakeholders has been integral in defining and guiding our research objectives, ensuring that our work is deeply rooted in the needs and realities of those affected by tuberculosis.

A core principle of our CRE is promoting equity by addressing the social and structural factors that contribute to vulnerability in individuals and communities, particularly those at higher risk for TB disease and poor outcomes. These vulnerable groups include those experiencing socioeconomic disadvantage, existing comorbidities, and limited access to TB care. This commitment to equity is reflected in our structured community engagement efforts and the integration of qualitative research throughout all our activities, ensuring that our research not only advances scientific knowledge but also responds to the lived experiences of those most impacted by TB.
